Catenary equipment

The catenary equipment is used for erecting and renewing catenary systems and the related maintenance. Strukton Railinfra Materieel has several innovative machines in addition to the traditional catenary equipment. Among these machines are the catenary renewal train Gemma and the hydraulic platform vehicle HBA XL, which can reach as high as 15 metres.


	Gemma catenary renewal and construction train The advanced catenary construction and renewal train Gemma works twice as fast as the traditional method. The Gemma draws the wire under constant tension and completes the work directly.
	XL VRB 25 KL hydraulic platform vehicle The XL VRB 25 KL hydraulic platform vehicle has a long working platform that can be extended at the front and rear for threading contact wire. The vehicle has three platforms.
	VRB 25 hydraulic platform vehicle The VRB 25 hydraulic platform vehicle is used in new catenary work. The vehicle has two platforms.
	VRB 17 KL automatic assembly wagon The VRB 17 KL automatic assembly wagons can be used for catenary repair and maintenance. The wagons have two platforms.
	Stormobil LRB The stormobils were specially built for work on the catenary supporting structure.
	HBW 8 / 9 / 12 hydraulic platform wagon The HBW 8 / 9 / 12 hydraulic platform wagon is used for new catenary installation and is a rail-bound vehicle with two fixed platforms and one small hydraulic platform.
	RT 16-14 mobile crane The RT 16-14 mobile crane works from a flat wagon, enabling it to run to its load and then move it rapidly.
	Assembly wagon The assembly wagon has its own service room and working room, and a working platform on the roof. The wagon is used in combination with the 'Gemma' catenary renewal machine.
	Wire brush wagon The wire brush wagon is used to brush oxidation and other dirt from the wire in order to guarantee good conduction of the voltage. The wire brush wagon is mostly used at railway yards, but can also be used on the main line.
	Winding unit This is a wagon with winding unit for winding the old wire of the catenary. The machine is mostly used in combination with the 'Gemma' catenary renewal machine. The unit is placed on a wagon which enables the unit to be transported in the (working) train.
	Winding and unwinding unit An unwinding unit is used for unwinding catenary wires. This unit (named Jos) is also suitable for winding the old wire.
	Unwinding unit An unwinding unit is used for unwinding catenary wires.
	Railroad trailer with hydraulic arm This railroad trailer (called 'BERT') can be used in a flexible way and is equipped with its own traction. The maximum height is 8 metres; the maximum working radius is 5 metres (if the height is 4.37 metres).
