Maintenance

Strukton Rail has built up many years’ experience in the maintenance of rail systems. Strukton Rail maintains approximately 50% of the total rail network in the Netherlands: about 2,600 kilometres of main track and 900 kilometres of adjacent track, including 5,510 points and 2,900 overhead crossings.
In Sweden, Strukton Rail is responsible for the maintenance of 1,500 kilometres of track and in Italy, Strukton's associated company Clf is maintains about 1,000 kilometres of track and 800 points.

Strukton Rail successfully applies its maintenance management processes and systems for the maintenance activities.

Disciplines
The maintenance work is carried out within the disciplines of rail, signalling, power supply, structures, underground infrastructure, telecommunication and computer network services. To make sure that trains can continue to drive, Strukton Rail regularly tamps, lines and levels the tracks using highly-advanced equipment.

Activities
The following activities are laid down in detailed, long-term contracts:
- functional maintenance;
- functional repair;
- breakdown repair;
- functional inspections;
- maintenance management;
- operational ownership management;
- fire lines and fire plugs;
- coordination.

Failure repair
Strukton Rail organises failure repair by itself. The fault clearing service teams are kept on standby 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Failures are reported to the coordinator at the coordination centre. He or she determines the nature of the breakdown and sends service engineers with the required expertise to the site. The coordinator reports on the expected repair time and the status during and after repair. And he/she is responsible for registration in the information management system.
