Strukton Rail is always searching for better and safer solutions for working on the track. The track is visually inspected on a daily basis. This is traditionally done manually. We have developed mobile and stationary camera systems to replace the traditional inspection methods. This reduces the need to physically inspect the track and therefore increases the safety and availability.
Mobile video inspection
The mobile video inspection systems, all developed by Strukton Rail, enable us to inspect the rail infrastructure rapidly and without the need to take the trains out of service. The VST-05 video inspection train takes pictures of the track and points at a speed of 40 km/hour, while trains are running.
In 2007 the first train of the VST-07 generation was put into operation. On the VST-07 several innovations were implemented. At the moment three trains of this type are operational.
Stationary video monitoring
At important junctions, Strukton Rail uses a stationary camera system. The cameras automatically make images of fixed points and draw attention to the slightest variation on the track. The cameras can be controlled remotely by using a web-based application for closer examination.
Objective recording
For each individual object, the pictures taken are captured in a central database, so that the history is also recorded. The pictures can be assessed by a specialist at any time.
