Strukton’s history is strongly related to that of the Dutch Railways. The former railway construction company 'NV Spoorwegbouwbedrijf' commenced its first activities in the 1920s.
Privatisation
Until the 1960s, we were building up both the expanding Dutch railways and our own expertise. In 1997 Strukton Rail was given an extra boost by the privatisation of the Dutch Railways (Nederlandse Spoorwegen, NS): we became responsible for the maintenance of the largest section of the railways in the Netherlands, the most heavily used track in Europe.
Growth in Europe
We are not just expanding in the Netherlands. With holdings in a range of European countries, we are expanding our field of activity. And we are getting an increasing number of orders from outside the Netherlands, such as the construction of the northern section of the Botnia Track along Sweden’s Botnia Gulf and the construction of significant portions of the HSL in Italy and Belgium. We also maintain several rail systems abroad, like in Sweden and Norway.
Ambition
With our knowledge and experience, we are growing to be one of Europe’s most important specialists in rail systems.
